27 True Things || 27 Years

As is my birthday tradition, here are 27 things I know to be true.
There is great value in finding people who feel like home. Stick with them.
A well-organized kitchen cabinet brings me more joy than is probably normal.
Faith should be more about love than about rules.
Mushrooms and/or spinach are still in most of the dinners I make.
Sometimes people are vegetarians for moral reasons. Sometimes they’re vegetarians because they don’t like cooking meat and only bought meat in unhealthy lunches when they forgot to bring a lunch from home… (me)
Geometry still sucks.
So does Statistics.
Aldi is my best friend.
Charcuterie Boards are LIFE-GIVING.
I feel loved when people make space for me, eat seconds of food I make for them, and send/tell me random things that reminded me of them.
Free food is still my favorite food.
Puzzles will always be fun.
Being friends with people who are not at the same age or in the same season of life as you is a gift. Pursue them.
Digital art is one of my new favorite expressions.
Breathing deep is important.
2020 feels like a big deal, but I don’t know why.
My sister is getting MARRIED this year and I will be a puddle. A puddle with a new brother in law!!!
Finding treasure in every person is difficult but very worth it.
The enneagram is a great tool to care for yourself and the people around you better. I will not apologize for jumping on the apparent band wagon.
4th graders are the weirdest.
I have committed to starting a penpal situation with one of my dearest friends. We are both very excited and hopeful that we’ll actually keep it up…
Grace is necessary - for yourself and for others.
Photographing weddings has to be one of the MOST stressful photography endeavors. I did my first and most likely my last this year. It was perfect.
Asking “What choice is the kindest choice for/to me?” changes a lot of decision making. Thanks, CC.
There is something incredibly special about holding photos in your hands. Print your pics, people!!!
In terms of God and faith and all that - If I’ve got it wrong, I’ve wasted a few hours every Sunday with some amazing people. If others have it wrong, I have to believe that God will sit down with them (maybe in a living room, or at founders, or on a cloud?) and answer all the questions I (and the rest of the world) can’t. I believe that God is love, and that feels like love to me.
As always, I love you for reading this, whoever you are.
